Board
Hanover is governed by a Board that is responsible for setting our corporate strategy, approving policies, plans, annual budgets and accounts, long term planning, assessing and managing risk. The board has three committees – Audit, Remuneration and Resources, and has 10 members (2 of which are Hanover residents).

Lord Richard Best – Chair
Lord Best has extensive experience in Housing and Public service over many years. Formerly Director of both the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, as well as Chief Executive of the National Federation of Housing Associations (now National Housing Federation) Lord Best was created a Life Peer in 2001. He is Chairman of House of Lords Audit Committee, Chair of the Private Rented Sector Policy Forum, Trustee of the Royal Society of Arts and Trustee of The Tree Council. His public duties also include Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary (APP) Group on Urban Development, Treasurer of the APP Group on Housing Needs and Homelessness, and serving on the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee.

Robert Banner – Resources Committee Chair
Bob has 30 years Board level experience in the UK, USA and France. He also qualified by exam to be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, his country of origin. In addition to 15 years in IT, he has 10 years public accounting experience with KPMG, and he performed voluntary work as the chair of a major mental health charity.

Penelope Bennett – Audit Committee Chair
Penny has a great deal of experience in Business Administration, and qualified as a solicitor in 1982. She held the position of NHS Non Executive Board Director from May 1995 to November 2003, as well as Regional Commissioner for the NHS.

Patricia Corless – Remuneration Committee Chair
Pat spent the last 20 years prior to retirement in a variety of Director and Chief Executive level roles in local government, the Civil Service, and the NHS. Pat has previously been involved in the development of the National Framework for Older People and People with disabilities and in joint initatives between Health and Social Care. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, she is also a lay member of Employment Tribunals and Vice-Chairman of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Brian Goodhand – Board Member
Brian is a resident with Hanover who was a member of Residents Council before becoming a board member. Brian joined the board because he wants ‘to make sure that residents are able to influence how Hanover develops and manages our homes’.

Brenda Jones - Board Memeber
Brenda is a resident with Hanover, was a member of Resident Council for 5 years and has been a resident representative for over seven years before becoming a board member.

Angela Gillibrand – Board Member
Angela brings to the Board a great deal of Finance knowledge, with experience at UK NIREX and the Royal Military College of Science. She is a nominated trustee of Holborn Estate Charity by Westminster City Council, and is also a non executive director for The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Swindon. She is also a Director of a Swindon based family farming and property company.

Bruce Moore – Chief Executive
Bruce was appointed as Hanover’s Chief Executive in December 2006. He is a qualified solicitor, and has a MBA. Bruce has spent most of his career working in the housing and care sectors. He has been a voluntary Board member of a number of other housing organisations and also served as a Housing Corporation appointee.

Arvinda Gohil – Board Member
Arvinda has over 28 years experience in Housing, and has held a number of senior level posts including the Director of the National Housing Federation, Assistant Director of The Housing Corporation, Chief Executive of Inquilab Housing Association and Chief Executive of Unity Housing Association. She is currently an independent management consultant in the not-for profit sector providing independent support and advise in Governance, Leadership, Equalities, Community Cohesion, Coaching and Mentoring. Arvinda is also a Chair of Praxis, a charity working with displaced people, member of Joseph Rowntree Foundation Place Strategy Group and member of the HCA equality and diversity advisory board.

Jill Preston – Board Member
Jill is a housing consultant and has worked at national and local levels in England and Scotland. She has an MBA from Glasgow University Business School in the department of Urban Studies. Most recently she held the post of Director of Community and Housing for Newcastle City Council.
