Chief Operations Officer appointed to put new vision into practice

Rona Nicholson

Hanover has appointed Rona Nicholson as Chief Operations Officer to help the provider deliver a new generation of housing for older people.

Rona brings with her over 30 years of experience and will support Bruce Moore, Hanover’s Chief Executive, in ensuring that Hanover continues to innovate and lead the way in the provision of retirement housing services.

In particular, Rona will be overseeing Hanover’s drive to devolve choice and control to residents through the development of Local Agreements as well plans to build new mixed tenure retirement homes.

At the Housing Corporation, Rona was London Regional Director responsible for both a £1.75 billion development programme and regulation of some of the largest housing associations. She also helped organise the ‘National Conversation’ with tenants as part of the transition to the Tenant Services Authority.

Bruce Moore, Chief Executive of Hanover, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have managed to appoint such a high-calibre and talented person to this role with a wealth of experience.  Rona will play a key role in helping ensure that Hanover delivers the best possible service to existing as well as future residents.”

Rona Nicholson said: ‘It is a really exciting time to join Hanover.  It has set a really challenging agenda of offering real choice and engagement to residents and I am looking forward to leading on putting these big ideas into practice.’

Notes to editors:

'Local agreements are written agreements between Hanover and its residents: they set out the services that residents can expect from Hanover on each estate.  Hanover is one of the TSA's local standards pilots as a recognised example that other providers might follow.'

Established in 1963, Hanover is dedicated to providing choice and independence for older people and is one of the largest specialist providers of retirement housing and related support services for older people in England. The Hanover Group manages nearly 19,000 retirement and Extra Care properties, which are available for rent or purchase on more than 600 estates.
