Hanover resident celebrates twenty years.

Hanover resident celebrates twenty years

Edith Duncan, 84, was born in Dufftown and moved into Aigan Court in 1988 with her mother, and has stayed there ever since.

Miss Duncan said: “I wasn’t prepared to start with, but I really like it now – it makes me feel safe and secure.”

The unit’s second longest-staying resident, Elizabeth Grant, 91, has spent the past 18 years at the complex, and described it as a “home from home”.

The complex is owned by Hanover Housing Association, and currently hosts 24 residents in 23 flats.

Complex manager Sylvia Brown said: “We’re commemorating the opening of the building.

“A lot of locals have come in here knowing that they don’t have to go into a care home. They get the chance to be part of a community and have independence, but they know there’s always someone there if they need them.

“All the residents tend to look out for each other and look after each other when someone’s ill.”

A party was held for all the residents yesterday to mark the event.
