Retirement Housing

Hanover retirement housing offers affordable, self-contained accommodation for rent that lets you live independently with security and peace of mind.
What can I expect from a Hanover retirement estate?
We have hundreds of estates across England and so you can expect each one to be different to the next. All properties are built and maintained to a high standard, and typically provide:
• Self-contained flats with a bathroom and fitted kitchen
• Communal facilities such as a laundry, lounge, gardens and a guest room
• Access to Hanover OnCall our emergency alarm call and telecare monitoring service
A ‘pets are welcome’ policy.
Hanover manages a number of retirement properties on behalf of other organisations, for example, almshouse trusts, and where this is the case, some differences may apply. You will be informed about properties and facilities upon application.
How will I benefit from living in a Hanover retirement property?
We have many testaments from residents who praise and enjoy where
they live and the services and supportive environment that our properties offer them. Here are some of the things you can look forward to:
• A warm and comfortable home that is well maintained
• Your own front door
• Security
• A good social life and the company of other residents, if you choose (or privacy when you want it)
• Independent living
• Remaining part of a local community
• Peace of mind, with help on hand via the estate manager or Hanover OnCall, our in-house emergency alarm call and telecare monitoring service.
Who is eligible for a Hanover retirement property?
For rented property any person aged over 55, whatever their circumstances can apply for a Hanover retirement property, although to be eligible for offers of housing, applicants generally need to over 60. (We work closely with a large number of local councils with whom we have a nomination arrangement. This means that at least half of all our vacancies are made to people who the council nominates to us.)
- If you are considering purchasing a Hanover retirement property then the Lease will contain restrictions on the age of occupiers. This can vary from estate to estate.
- Generally you must intend to use the property as your permanent residence in order to qualify.
- You may need to meet additional criteria to qualify for our Extra Care Housing which is intended for those with particular support needs.
- We do not directly provide care, but through our partnerships with local councils, we can help residents to access whatever help they may require through social services.
How much does it cost?
• Information about weekly and monthly costs for our retirement properties can be found on our Rents and Service Charges page.
