What can I look forward to from a Hanover retirement estate?
With hundreds of estates across England and several in Wales each estate is individual and we have something to suit everyone. We provide a tailored service on each estate which we agree each year with the residents, enabling them to decide what is most important to them. We try to ensure residents are involved in the decision making that affects them wherever possible, this includes areas such as services and repairs contractors for the estate.
We have defined all of the parts of the service where individuals, or residents collectively can choose the service they want and called this 'Choices'. There will be more detail about this on our website in March 2011.
Each property typically provides:
-
a self-contained property with a bathroom and fitted kitchen;
-
access to an out of hours alarm and monitoring service – we recommend our in house service – “Hanover on Call”.
Some properties enjoy the benefit of communal facilities such as a laundry, library, lounge, gardens or a guest suite for family and friends to rent for the night.
Pets are welcome in all of our properties.
Whatever type of property you choose you can be sure that it will be well maintained and managed to the highest standards.
To find out more about the facilities available at individual locations please contact our Lettings and Enquiries Team on 0800 280 2575.
Who is eligible?
Any person aged over 55 years can apply whatever their circumstances, although to be eligible for an offer of housing they would normally need to be over 60 years on most estates. We have a small number of estates where people below this age could receive an offer.
To offer a greater choice, on some of our rented estates, we are now offering some of our properties for sale. You will generally need to be over 60 years of age to purchase a property on one of our rented estates. On our leasehold estates the age requirement, contained within the lease or transfer agreement, usually allows people aged 55 or over to purchase.
We work closely with local councils who sometimes nominate people to us for vacancies which occur.
