Licensed to drill - residents thank Hanover for handyman service
A group of residents have thanked Hanover for an innovative handyperson person service which has been designed to support residents in Hackney with jobs around their home.
The service which is free for residents was introduced to deal with small jobs ranging from light bulb replacement to minor plumbing repairs.
To report jobs, residents can call the Hackney office – or their estate manager can email the Hackney office on their behalf. With almost 800 Hanover homes in the borough handymen Islam Omanovic and Emilio Dominguez are kept very busy as they are called upon to attend an average of between 80 to100 jobs each week.
The handy person service is paid for by Hanover, through the estates repair budget and has saved the organisation in the region of 40 per cent since it started.
Rhys Perkins Senior Technical Manager from Hanover Said: “The handyman service has proved to be a real hit amongst the residents who showed their gratitude by nominating both of them for a staff award.
“Not only has the service reduce our estate repair budgets it provides a fast responsive repair service from familiar faces that residents can trust.”
Abdul Harris Hanover resident and former Chair of the Hackney tenants executive committee said: “This service has been a real winner for both residents and Hanover.
“Response times to repair orders have dropped dramatically as the handymen have taken over more and more work from contractors.
“The best thing of all for residents is they now have two people whom they all know and trust to come into their homes to do their repairs in a friendly and helpful way.”
