Statement on the funding of supported housing

Following today’s update from the Government on plans for the future funding of supported housing, the CEOs of Hanover, Anchor and Housing & Care 21 said:

"We welcome this step-change. From our initial reading of the announcement, it does appear the Government has taken on board some of the key suggestions we’ve put forward on how best to support a wider range of older people now living in sheltered housing. This recognises the essential and varied role that this type of housing plays for older people and benefits it creates for health and social care and also the true costs of providing these services. We welcome the acknowledgement from the government of the importance of taking the views of the sector and other stakeholders to find a workable long term solution which will give us and the people we house the certainty that has been lacking for too long.  We look forward to working with the government to make this a success as quickly as possible so that we can also get back to planning and building the much needed new housing that the increasing numbers of older people need."
