Shute is a tiny village close to Colyton and Axminster in south Devon. In Colyton there is a good range of shops including an award winning butchers, a wonderful hardware shop, some small convenience stores, a bank and hairdressers. The larger towns of Honiton, Axminster and Lyme Regis are both only 8 miles away and have a wider range of facilities. In Honiton there is a sports centre with swimming pool, and just outside the town centre there are large superstores for DIY as well as supermarkets.
The surrounding countryside
Shute is surrounded by some really interesting Devon village and town that are steeped in history, for example Beer and Colyton. Lyme Regis is noted for the fossils found in the cliffs and beaches and for "The Cobb", a harbour wall full of character and history. There are some wonderful nature reserves for bird watching enthusiast on the River Axe and the scenic tram route from nearby Colyton to Seaton runs from early March through to October.

The town is located just off the A35 providing direct routes to Honiton and coastal routes to Lyme Regis and West Bay. Axminster railway station operates services to Salisbury and London Waterloo.
