Colchester town also has an unusual Post Office housed in an old oak beamed building at the head of the main street. Within 20 minutes’ drive of Colchester you can visit Flatford and Dedham, landscape made famous by the paintings of John Constable.
Of interest in the village
There is a pleasant circular walk around the village that takes in two local pubs, the Swan and the Alma. The parish church of St Michael is renowned for its 12th-century Norman wall paintings that are among the best in England.
Adjacent to the church is the manorial house of Copford Hall, which is Grade II listed. The extensive grounds of the manor house include canals, fishponds and water features. On the lowest pool is a classical boathouse.
How to find us
Located just off the London Road, the estate is easily accessible from junction 25 of the A12. Marks Tey railway station is also nearby with regular services to London Liverpool Street, Ipswich, Colchester and Sudbury.
The village is served by the 70 and 71 bus services at the London Road end, giving access to Colchester, Chelmsford and Braintree. Copford Green is also served every Wednesday by a community bus, for which tickets must be purchased in advance.
