Hythe is a small town near Southampton, Hampshire. It is located by the shore of Southampton Water, and has a 12 minute ferry service directly to the giant West Quay shopping centre in Southampton. Hythe has a small shopping area clustered around its High Street, which includes a supermarket, a public library, a number of small independent shops as well as a pier, and a marina for yachts.

The pier railway and ferry service operate at half-hourly intervals throughout the day and is the oldest working pier train in the world. Applemore Recreation Centre has a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts. Dibden golf centre overlooks Southampton Water and presents stunning views especially from the 18th green.

Out and about

The 13th century Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House and the Church are just six miles away in this delightful New Forest village. Stop to browse in the shops or, just off the route, tour the National Motor Museum. A group of local GP surgeries have just started running a healthy walks group alternating on Sunday mornings. The walks are open to everyone, whether they are registered as a patient or not.
