History and culture in and around Telford
Telford is a new town named after the Thomas Telford, the greatest road, canal and bridge builder of his age. It contrasts greatly to the neighbouring village of Ironbridge. Spanning the Ironbridge Gorge and set either side of the River Severn, the indoor and outdoor museums take visitors on a journey from the start of the Industrial Revolution in the early 1700's to the Victorian era 100 years later.
