Art and culture
In the town's Central Gardens is the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA). It holds the second largest collection of Picassos in the United Kingdom. It also holds works by Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse and Damien Hirst amongst others. Its considerable arts and crafts collections span from 1900 to the present day. Middlesbrough Theatre has a large and varied programme of events for all the family.
Location and transport links
Middlesbrough is served well by public transport notably by the Arriva North East and Stagecoach. National Express and Mega Bus operate long distance coach travel from the bus station.
Train services are operated by Northern Rail and First Trans Pennine Express, the latter of which provides direct rail services to cities such as Leeds, York, Liverpool and Manchester, departing from Middlesbrough railway station. This development is just off the A1032 Acklam Road.
