Local facilities

Margate is a traditional seaside town in Kent which has undergone a revival. There are three main shopping areas and some quirky, independent shops to be found in the Old Town quarter. Hartsdown Leisure Centre is set in the picturesque woodland within walking distance of the town centre. Facilities include a 25 metre pool, sports hall which is available for badminton and table tennis together with a comprehensive fitness studio and exercise classes.

Things to see and do

The Turner Contemporary art gallery showcases historical and ultra-modern art. There are theatres, museums, bowling, golf course, bars and restaurants, as well as scenic coastal walks and local parkland to enjoy. An annual jazz festival takes place on a weekend in July. The Margate Museum explores the town's seaside heritage in a range of exhibits and displays.
