Highworth is a Wiltshire market town close to the Cotswold village of Burford. Highworth itself offers a historic High Street and church, listed buildings, shops and plenty of pubs and restaurants.

The Rec sports centre has a 25 metre swimming pool with retracting walls that open up on fine summer days, a gym, sports hall and fitness classes.

Nearby Swindon offers excellent shopping facilities, including the Designer Outlet Village, situated within the old Railway Works. Here you’ll find a wide range of branded goods offered at reduced prices. There are also several large retail parks across the town.

Things to see and do

There are many pleasant walks and cycle tracks to enjoy in the surrounding area, in particular at Lydiard Park on the outskirts of Swindon. This beautiful historic park offers a listed Palladian house, walled garden, woodland walks and a lake.

Highworth is also handy for the pretty villages of the Cotswolds. Lechlade and Burford are only a short drive away, offering a wealth of antique shops, historic pubs and quaint tea rooms.

Cotswold Wildlife Park near Burford is set in acres of parkland and gardens around a listed Victorian Manor House. It has a varied collection of mammals, birds and reptiles from all over the world
