Brotherton is on the A162, north of Ferrybridge, south of Fairburn. This road is linked to other communities by the A1(M), which follows the route of the Great North Road. The nearest railway station at nearby Knottingley lies on the Pontefract line. There is an hourly service from Knottingley to both the nearby cities of Leeds and Wakefield via Pontefract.
