Corbridge combines a range of interesting historical sites with good shopping facilities. There are plenty of quaint and interesting shops, pubs and coffee shops to visit. The river bank offers attractive views from the 17th century bridge. You could enjoy a picturesque walk following the River Tyne, past the attractive stations at Corbridge and Hexham.

Situated just a few miles from Corbridge are two championship golf courses. The area also covers three sections of the National Cycle network.

History, art and culture

Roman stones were used to construct many of the village buildings, including the church. Five miles north of Corbridge is the excavated Roman settlement of Corstopitum. The museum here houses finds from the site, including the famous stone fountainhead - the Lion of Corbridge.

A short distance away is the town of Hexham, an impressive mediaeval town full of cobbled streets and interesting little shops. Twice a week there is a general market in the town. The surrounding area features Hadrian’s Wall, beautiful landscapes and many castles and forts.

Corbridge in Northumberland is situated just off the A69, 20 minutes from Newcastle and 35 minutes from Carlisle. The village is easily accessible from the A69, and also from the A1. The local railway station has services to Newcastle, Hexham, Carlisle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

The village centre is just a five minute walk from Corbridge station. Bus routes operating locally include the 602 Hexham to Newcastle service and the 685 Newcastle to Carlisle service.
