Local facilities

Wimborne Minster is a thriving market town in rural Dorset. It is 7 miles from Poole and 12 miles from the seaside resort of Bournemouth. It is steeped in history with a collection of old pubs, alfresco dining, a leading supermarket and a mix of high street and independent shops.

There are several riverside walks, a museum, model town and popular craft centre. The town has a wide variety of local clubs and societies, including a Women’s Institute, an active U3A and over 50s sports clubs at the local leisure centre with swimming pool.

Art and culture

The town square holds a variety of events including markets and dancing displays. The annual folk festival held in June is three days of folk, family and fun with concerts, crafts, and over 50s dance teams including Morris and Appalachian dancing. There is an art deco theatre holding stage shows and films attracting artistes like Pam Ayres, Charlie Landsborough and Al Murray.

There are regular bus routes to Bournemouth, Poole and Salisbury.  The nearest train station is at Poole where you can pick up services to London Waterloo and Southampton. This development is just off the B3073 Leigh Road.
