Selby Abbey is one of the relatively few surviving abbey churches of the medieval period, and is also one of the biggest. The Abbey’s east window contains original medieval glass, while the 14th century Washington window features the heraldic arms of the ancestors of George Washington.
Vicarage Close is located just off Breighton Road leading to Church Street and the A163. The village itself is situated about 8 miles north-east of Selby and 6 miles north of Goole.
The closest railway station is Wressle which provides services to York, Hull and Scarborough. Local buses run to the surrounding towns of Howden, Selby, Market Weighton and York.
