School children and residents leave legacy for generations to come

Residents from one of Hanover‘s newest extra care housing estates invited students from Portishead Primary School to help them place items of both historic and local significance in a time capsule, which they later buried on the grounds at Waverly Court.

The group of year four students later entertained the residents with a singing and dancing display followed by afternoon tea and biscuits.

Waverly Court’s youngest resident 57 year-old Arthur Harris said: “ They were little darlings, it was great meeting the children and I very much enjoyed their singing.”

Senior Estate Manager Rowena Hindle said: “Having only opened our doors just a few short weeks ago we are excited at the prospect of developing relationships within the local community.

“It was great to see young people taking an interest in local history and enjoying their time with the residents.”

“Hanover is keen to work in partnership with the local businesses and the local community and I hope we can work with Portishead Primary school on other events in the future.”
