Housing and Support Academy

Our internally designed and delivered Housing & Support Academy has been developed to support all new estate-based roles to gain the important knowledge, skills and behaviours to perform effectively in their roles. The programme takes place throughout the new employees probation period and is a fully blended programme including face to face workshops and webinars, a comprehensive workbook and a range of online learning modules

This Academy programme has the following key learning outcomes:

  • Helps to develop a deeper understanding about the Estate Manager role
  • Provides the knowledge and skills to manage estates with guidance, and information about where to obtain that support
  • Provides inclusive and engaging content to support different learning styles
  • Promotes self-directed learning and ways to explore new learning opportunities and interact with other new staff and key stakeholders to share knowledge.
  • Learning is fully supported by line managers and subject matter experts

The learning modules included in the programme are as follows:

  • 1 day workshop providing a Welcome to Hanover
  • 1 day workshop covering all associated aspects of Health and Safety
  • 1 day workshop providing an introduction to our Open Housing System and Repairs
  • Guidebook on Managing Effective Resident Meetings
  • A webinar to provide an introduction to our Hanover On Call team
  • e-learning modules including:
       Prioritisation and Time Management
       Food Hygiene Level 2 (RoSPA accredited)
  • 1 day workshop covering all elements of Home Ownership
  • 1 day workshop providing an Introduction to Lettings Management
  • 1 day workshop on Safeguarding for Adults and Children (Level 2)
  • 1 day Corporate Induction delivered by members of our Executive Leadership Team and CEO
  • 1 day workshop covering aspects of Personal Safety
  • Compliance e-learning modules including:
        Understanding Bribery
        General Data Protection Regulation
        Safeguarding Adults and children (Level 1)
        Water Management
        Moving and Handling
        Asbestos Awareness
        Gas Safety
        Fire Safety
        General Health and Safety
        Workstation Safety
