We offer accredited training and professional development.

Learning and development at Hanover has a strong focus on providing engaging and innovative approaches. Through these we ensure our people are able to access a wide variety of learning to support their development needs in the way in which they learn best and compliments their busy work roles. 

Learning Management System

In December 2017, we introduced a brand new Learning Management System which has provided a valuable one stop shop for all our people’s learning needs. This system is called MyLO (My Learning Opportunities) and was named by our staff. It provides over 180 different learning initiatives including;

  • Face to face classroom sessions delivered regionally
  • Interactive workbooks and one page guides on key topics
  • e-learning including compliance modules, personal effectiveness and Microsoft office modules
  • Animated videos developed in-house providing a bitesize and fun way to deliver knowledge on key topics and business / regulatory changes
  • Professional qualification programmes through our internally delivered and assessed Institute of Leadership and Management programmes

All our e-learning, workbooks and guides are available to our people 24/7 and MyLO enables the provision of ‘just in time’ learning that can be accessed as and when needed to gain new skills and knowledge or refresh existing ones. This is invaluable to our people with busy roles and locations that are geographically dispersed to be able to access a range of our learning initiatives without the need to always travel to centralised learning locations.

Around 90% of Hanover’s learning is designed and delivered internally by our Learning and Development team. This ensures that the learning is always aligned specifically with Hanover’s culture, processes and policies and most importantly, the specific development needs of our people.


As an Apprenticeship Levy paying organisation, Hanover supports a variety of apprenticeship opportunities. These learning opportunities are for existing staff to develop new skills and knowledge in support of their roles and also to bring new employees into the business on a robust programme of development. These programmes enable our people to gain valuable on-the-job experience at the same time as learning new skills, knowledge and behaviour through our partnerships with local colleges and providers.

Business partnering

The Learning and Development team also provide a business partnering approach where we work collaboratively with our HR Business Partner colleagues and key stakeholders within the business to understand the learning requirements that will support them in achieving the strategic needs of the business, department and teams. This is invaluable in supporting and driving key priorities for our Learning and Development Operational Plan which then underpins our wider People Strategy.
