Energy Advisor, home based (fixed term, regular travel)


Salary: £29,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you’ll be doing

This is an opportunity to join a busy and dynamic team, offering energy switching advice and fronting Anchor Hanover’s suite of Be Wise services to both customers and colleagues, as we roll out a fully national team. We are seeking to appoint two Energy Advisors to join our expanding Energy Wise team, one on a permanent basis and one on a six month, fixed term contract.

You will be providing an energy comparison and switching service to guide customers towards the most appropriate energy supplier for their needs, alongside offering energy advice, both through a telephone help line and personal visits.

Ensuring that people know how switching supplier can help them save money is vital, so you will lead on communications and briefings on energy news and the energy market to operational colleagues, and coordinate road shows and other initiatives, aimed at widening access to savings.

Energy Advisors are regionally based in the North and South regions. There is a requirement for travel as part of the role and you can expect to be on one of our housing estates 2-3 times a week.

Advisors are home based and your home location should reflect your ability to cover your region/s to deliver Be Wise events, training and attend meetings.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide advice in line with agreed procedures and guidance, using the tools provided
  • Champion the delivery of advice and those services that support customers, colleagues and communities to save money on their energy costs and to make their housing costs more affordable
  • Maintain a good understanding of the domestic energy market and how to maximise the benefits to customers and colleagues

Who we need

To succeed, you will need knowledge of the energy market particularly as it affects older people; direct experience of providing a switching service would be a definite advantage, but not  essential. Coming from a customer service focussed environment, you must be an articulate communicator with a can-do attitude and persuasive presentation skills.

We need people who share our values, people who are friendly, customer focused and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. The role also requires independence and innovation. Being computer literate, willing to travel nationally and stay away overnight as required is essential including a full driving licence.
