For most of our Extra Care Housing estates we have agreements with the local authority to let a percentage of our vacant properties to people nominated by them. Hanover’s agreement for this estate is that all of the allocations are managed by the local authority, North Somerset, who can be contacted on 01934 888888.
Waverley Court retirement development in Portishead comprises 60 Extra Care apartments and 8 retirement bungalows designed specifically with the needs of older people in mind. With a wide range of on-site facilities and access to care and support, Waverley Court has much to offer those aged over 60 in the locality. You’ll find shops, doctors’ surgeries and a post office all on your doorstep, plus there are bus routes nearby.
The on-site manager takes care of buildings/grounds maintenance, as well as assisting with access to further support. Optional activities on this estate include coffee mornings, entertainment evenings and keep fit, making this a fun and sociable place to live.
Portishead’s traditional Victorian High Street has a good mix of original shops and modern stores to suit all tastes. Sporting facilities are good in the town, including open-air tennis courts, a boating lake, cricket ground, football and hockey pitches plus a leisure complex with a large swimming pool and indoor bowls, as well as many cycle lanes.
Portishead in North Somerset has fine views of the Severn Estuary, the Welsh coastline, both Severn bridges to one side and the beautiful and scenic Gordano Valley to the other. Located close to the town’s stylish marina, Waverley Court can be accessed via the A369 from junction 19 of the M5.
The town is served by several bus routes, including those for Bristol, Congresbury and Clevedon. The town does not currently have a railway station, the nearest being at Nailsea or Avonmouth, for services to Bristol Temple Meads.
