A Hanover estate and gardens

Heat metering (Quadra & Woodside Square)

Hanover has a legal obligation to provide residents of new build developments with an accurate statement of their individual heat and hot water consumption and charge them for the actual amount of heat used. This is effectively a gas bill and works in a similar way to your electric and water but instead you pay for heat from a centralised heating system.

All our new build properties have an in-built unit in the store cupboard called a Heat Interface Unit, which has a heat meter connected to it. The amount of heat energy used by each property is collected remotely from this meter.

Tips to save on your heating bills

  • Turning your thermostat down by 1ºC can cut your heating bill by up to 10 per cent. (The recommended room temperature is 21ºC for a living room, 18ºC for other rooms)
  • Set the thermostat down low in rooms you don’t use
  • Visit our Energy Wise page for advice on how to save on your electricity bills
