Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards opens new lounge for residents
Former Olympic ski jumper Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards dropped by to open a new lounge at Hanover Lodge in Stroud recently. The shared space provides a much needed area for residents to relax, unwind and get to know each other. Residents joined friends and family at the launch, which included a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
93-year-old Eva Cottrell is particularly looking forward to socialising in the new facility. Due to her limited mobility, top-floor resident Eva has not been able to go out for over a year. She was however determined to make it to the lounge opening and practised her walking beforehand.
Eva says: ‘This new lounge means so much to me, as I’ve been able to meet my neighbours and friends who I haven’t seen for such a long time. I’ll be able to chat to people now and be more involved. My extra special memories are written in my ‘Golden Day book’ - this will most definitely be one of them.’
