Local area

Arnside is a village in Cumbria, near to the west coast and the Lake District. Pretty shops line Arnside promenade and local pubs provide a place to watch the boats on the Kent estuary. You might spot the salmon leaping, while the tidal bore is a spectacular springtime sight.


Arnside faces the estuary of the River Kent on the corner of Morecambe Bay, which is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has sites of scientific interest because of the rare butterflies and alpine plants that may be found around the limestone pavements. There are many wooded walks around Arnside Knott, up to the PepperPot at Silverdale, or around the coast with its sea views.
