Leadgate is a village in County Durham. The village is situated to the north-east of Consett. This is a former mining town dating back to 1841 and is now a very close knit community.
The roman road Front Street runs straight through the village and is now home to a number of independent businesses as well as a local supermarket. The coast-to-coast cycle route runs through the village and follows the path of the former Stanhope and Tyne railway.
The famous Pennines lie just to the west of Leadgate and provide an abundance of stunning days out for cyclists, walkers and even those who want to enjoy some of the glorious views. The towns of Durham and Newcastle are major venues for culture and the arts.
Location and transport links
This development lies just off the B6309 which runs straight through the middle of Leadgate. The A692 loops the village and connects it to Gateshead and Newcastle to the northeast and Consett to the south west. The nearest train stations are Chester-le-Street and Gateshead. Local buses run to these nearby towns as well.
