Local facilities

Dewsbury is a West Yorkshire former mill and minster town on the river Calder, close to the M1 and M62 motorways.  It is surrounded by the larger towns of Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford and Halifax but has retained its own delightful characteristics.

The town centre has been furbished to show the beauty of the old York-stone buildings, and the old mills have been converted into stylish apartments. Dewsbury has a retail park, sports centre, library and free town bus service. The local market has over 400 stalls and attracts people from far and wide.

Out and about

There are some delightful local parks in the area. The Crows Nest Park has a museum, woodland walks and bowling green and Wilton Park is an ideal place for picnics and watching the world go by.

For those interested in culture and history, the Minster has recently opened a heritage display. Archaeologists recently found stone dating back to the Anglo Saxon times in a north east corner of the church. The Bagshaw Museum and the National Coal Mining Museum are just a few miles away.

Transport links

The development is conveniently situated just off Staincliffe Road, near the B6117/A644. Regular bus services run to nearby Wakefield, Pudsey, Huddersfield and a superstore. The town is served by a mainline station with frequent trains running into Leeds and Manchester.
