Local facilities

Stockcross has a small shop, post office, coffee shop, a bed and breakfast and a few pubs. Sutton Hall is the busy village hall, hosting regular events from jumble sales to Christmas pantomimes to village get-togethers.

Parkway Shopping Centre in nearby Newbury offers an exclusive range of top fashion and lifestyle brands. Newbury library, provides internet access and a wide range of other services to its users and members. Newbury is also home to Donnington Grove,  a historic house built in the 17th century and now home to beautiful golf course and country club.

Art and culture

Home to one of England's major racecourses, Newbury Racecourse celebrated its centenary in 2005. The most prestigious race in the calendar is the Hennessy Gold Cup in late November.

Newbury is fortunate enough to still have one of the last remaining lidos in the UK. Victoria Park, near the centre of the town, is used for several events during the year such as the Newbury Waterways Festival, the Keep Off The Grass (KOTG) dance music event and Crafty Craft, a raft race along the canal.

The Newbury Spring Festival of classical music brings internationally renowned soloists and ensembles to a variety of venues in and around the town. The Newbury Comedy Festival which started in 2004 has become a feature in the town's cultural calendar. The Corn Exchange is a venue for both professional and amateur live performances. Other theatres near the town are the Watermill Theatre and New Greenham Arts on the former Greenham Common air force base.

Stockcross is just off the A4, to the west of Newbury. It is south of the M4 and very close to junction 13 of the M4. The nearest railway station is Newbury. There is a good bus service to Newbury and Lambourn.
