Fishponds Park, a nature conservation area with ponds and a stream, is a popular spot, sited in the former grounds of an 18th Century house. Hampton Court Palace is easily reached, and Kew Gardens and Richmond Park are also close by. Neighbouring Kingston, with its excellent shopping, vivid nightlife and Thames boat trips, is just a walk away, along the river. Surbiton has its own sports clubs including croquet and golf and a leisure centre.
