Local facilities

Ampthill is a small historic market town in Bedfordshire. The town has several lively pubs, a wide variety of restaurants, a supermarket and a selection of small independent specialist shops. A regular market has taken place on Thursdays for centuries.

Art and culture

Ampthill Park was designed by Capability Brown and Katherine of Aragon is said to have been imprisoned there, whilst awaiting her fate. Westminster Pond, a great place for fishing and jogging, is located on the outskirts of Ampthill. The Greensand Ridge Walk is Bedfordshire’s premier long distance footpath. The route has been split into five sections to enable you to walk it in stages or as a whole.

Five miles away is Wrest Park owned by English Heritage with Britain's largest and most important 'secret gardens'. It has miles of reinstated historic pathways which lead to garden buildings, a pavilion and statues.

Location and transport links

Ampthill is on the A507. It connects to Junction 13 of the M1 which provides links to the north and south via the M25 and London. Nearby Flitwick railway station provides an excellent service between Bedford and Brighton, calling at London stations on the way. Local bus services operate to the nearby towns of Bedford, Bletchley and Luton.
