Orchard Close is based in the small rural town of Petworth, benefitting from views of the surrounding countryside. On offer are a range of 30 one bed apartments, with shared facilities for residents including gardens and a guest room for visiting friends and family.
You won’t have to worry about buildings and grounds maintenance or repairs as an on-site manager looks after these points, as well as helping you to access further help and support if you need it.
The regular lunch clubs give an opportunity to socialise with other residents, should you wish to do so. A selection of shops is available on the high street and good public transport connects to the nearby towns of Midhurst, Chichester, Petersfield and Guildford.
The town has a butchers, post office, bakers and supermarket as well as many interesting independent shops and restaurants. Petworth is renowned as the antiques centre of the South East.
Recognised as an area of outstanding beauty, the South Downs is also home to a multitude of vibrant working communities steeped in history and traditional English culture, from the ancient cathedral city of Winchester in the west to the bustling market town of Lewes in the east.
For film lovers, Petworth Film House is a not for profit community organisation run by volunteers who arrange regular film nights for the town. Petworth is close to the cathedral cities of Chichester and Guildford, both of which offer markets, concerts and famous theatre venues.
Art and Culture
Petworth House is a vast late 17th-century mansion set in a beautiful 700-acre deer park. It houses a fine collection of works by Turner, Van Dyck, Reynolds and Blake and ancient and neo-classical sculptures. On weekdays additional rooms in the house are open by kind permission of Lord and Lady Egremont.
Petworth has also been the home to the Petworth Town Band for over 100 years. A group of nearly 40 amateur brass and woodwind players, the band rehearses weekly and is often seen around the local area playing at local events. On 20th November (St. Edmund's day) each year, a fun fair is held in the market square, a tradition that has been running for over 400 years.
