Southrope is a small countryside development of 8 one bungalows based in the picturesque village of Herriard outside Basingstoke. A site manager looks after buildings and grounds maintenance and repairs, as well as offering further advice and support as required. Around the local area

The Fur and Feathers gastro pub is just around the corner from Southrope Green. The parish of Herriard has acres of farms and woodland, full of beautiful trees and wildlife.

There is a popular weekly market held on Wednesdays in Basingstoke town centre. The Festival Place shopping centre has a wide range of shops, cafés, restaurants and a cinema. In Portchester Square is the Basingstoke Sports Centre which has a gym, fitness studio, swimming pool and health spa.

Basingstoke is also home to The Anvil, Haymarket and Proteus theatres for drama and concerts. Diverse local music groups range from brass bands to symphony orchestras.

Things to see and do

Basingstoke Canal Towpath Trail is a wonderfully scenic route, passing through woodland to wetland and pasture. Known locally as King John’s Castle, the ruins of Odiham Castle are located adjacent to the Basingstoke Canal. They are currently being restored and are open to the public.

Basing House was a major Tudor palace and castle in the nearby village of Old Basing. The extensive ruins are open to the public and accessed by an attractive riverside walk.

Milestones is an award winning living history museum where you can explore a network of full size streets, village green, pub and a steam locomotive, dating from Victorian times to 1945.

How to find us

Southrope Green is in the village of Herriard on the A339, easily reached from Junction 6 of the M3. It is around 5 miles from Basingstoke, a large old market town in northeast Hampshire.

The town’s railway station provides many services including those for London Waterloo, Reading and Southampton. Bus services run to Farnborough, Winchester, Andover, Newbury and Reading.
