Hailsham has a variety of local and national shops, restaurants and several supermarkets throughout the town. The weekly livestock markets, together with the monthly farmers’ market and Friday stall markets continue to serve the town and the wider rural economy.

The Freedom Leisure Centre recreation complex, located near the town centre, has facilities including a gym and swimming pool. Several ten-pin bowling lanes were added in 2006. Hailsham Outdoor Bowling Club is based at the rear of the complex. Hailsham Pavilion is a Grade II listed cinema and concert hall built in 1921.

Hailsham Country Park  incorporates woodland, a wildflower meadow, two ponds and a lake. The Common Pond in Bellbanks Road has been a focal point in Hailsham for centuries and is considered to be the town's "Jewel In The Crown”.
